It's a Family Affair

11/27/13

It’s here already. Thanksgiving. One of the best things about Thanksgiving is:

It’s a Family Affair; It’s a Family Affair (Sly and the Family Stone)

Whether it’s gathering at a family member’s home to share dinner, memories, great stories and many laughs; great food;  naps; walking the dog…It’s a Family Affair…

It’s the activity of an early morning workout; tennis match; fun run; football game; turkey bowl; pick-up game or just getting together to dip some turkeys and toast our health; nothing is as good as sharing with each other on this day.

You see it’s in the blood…It’s a family affair…

Thanksgiving is Christmas without the commercialization (but that is quickly changing). It’s the sharing of time and activities with family and friends to share conversation, to share thoughts; ideas and even argue about the no-no’s (politics, religion, family). It’s the hatching of the plot to attack Black Friday’s morning; the surprise of a friend or relative’s presence; it’s giving. Regardless of the activity, it all centers on giving thanks for what we have and what we share.

Blood’s thicker than the mud…It’s a family affair…

As we just moved past the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s death, we remember his appeal to all of us; “Ask not what your country can do for you; but what can you do for your country”. 50 years ago it was more important to give than receive and we harken back to the days of Camelot to remind us how important it is to share; to make our families; our schools; our communities better.

It’s a family affair…

Here’s wishing you do what you do to celebrate each other and honor the day and tradition of Thanksgiving. We wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!
