QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  2. Has previous successful coaching experience in wrestling.
  3. Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
  4. Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

REPORTS TO: The Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation or the head coach contingent upon position.

JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training
necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same
time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially
acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of
accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills
through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc. To support fellows coaches and grow the program.

GENERAL:

  1. The success of athletic programs has a strong influence on the community's image of the entire system. The public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health.
  2. The position includes other unusual aspect such as extended time, risk injury factor and due process predicaments.
  3. It is the express intent of this job posting to give sufficient guidance to function. In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by PIAA and supports their implementation.
  2. Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations.
  3. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
  4. Helps to establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught.
  5. Helps to facilitate clinics.
  6. Maintains discipline, adjusts grievances and works to increase morale and cooperation.
  7. Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the Athletic Director.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

  1. Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees using scheduling system and open channels of communication.
  2. Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  3. Recommends policy, method or procedural changes.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  2. Gives constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct.
  3. By his/her presence at all practices games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant.
  4. Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians.
  5. Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.

FINANCE AND EQUIPMENT:

  1. Properly marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing.
  2. Monitors equipment rooms, authorizes who may enter, issue or requisition equipment.
  3. Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
  4. Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
  5. Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.
  6. Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.

Job Description: The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the high school boys' basketball program, including planning and leading practices, developing game strategies, and fostering the athletic and personal growth of student-athletes.  This position reports directly to the Athletic Director and Principal. 

Schedule: Candidates must have a flexible schedule, as practices and games typically take place in the afternoon and evening.

STIPEND: $7,644.00

SUMMARY:
- To help each participating student achieve a high skill level; an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship; and an increased level of
self- esteem.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Instruct student athletes in the skills necessary for achieving excellence in the sport.
- Maintain accurate statistics, records, and results of the season or delegates this responsibility.
- Plans and schedules a regular practice program of practice.
- Oversee the safety conditions of the practice and play facility or area when students are present.
- Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
- Maintain competency in rule interpretations, meet procedures, coaching techniques, and general information about all aspects of the sport, in accordance with WPIAL/PIAA regulations.
- Coordinate performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in this sport and is consistent in establishing criteria for eligibility in competition.
- Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
- Account for all equipment or delegates the responsibility.
- Develop a consistent and positive public communications procedure through the school and news media to inform the general public about the athletic program.
- Work with athletes and recruiters to promote outstanding athletes to college.
- Coordinate field/gym usage permits; transportation arrangements to away events, or delegate this responsibility.
- Develop conditioning program, in cooperation with weight trainer and athletic trainer.
- Coordinate arrangements for athlete physicals with the Athletic Trainer and announces to student athletes.
- File required reports/runs follow-up on injured athletes.
- Compile eligibility lists, as needed.
- Nominate outstanding athletes for local/regional recognition or honors or all-star teams.
- Direct selection/instruction of student managers, student statisticians, as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents of participating athletes.

GIRLS SOCCER HEAD COACH

The Ephrata Area School District, Ephrata, Pennsylvania, is looking for a vibrant, passionate, and dedicated Head Coach for Girls Soccer. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating effectively with fellow coaches, players, parents, and administration. They will also develop and implement effective and appropriate practice and game plans. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to teach fundamental soccer skills, a strong knowledge of team concepts and strategies, and a willingness to work towards the goals of the Ephrata Area School District's athletic department. 
 
Duties of the head coach include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing and organizing daily practice plans for both the Varsity and JV teams during the fall sports season
  • Collaborating with assistant coaches to develop game plans
  • Implementing a strength, conditioning, and off-season training program tailored to the needs of a high school soccer program
  • Maintaining accurate inventories of uniforms, equipment, and supplies
  • Providing support and guidance to the youth soccer program
  • Evaluate and provide feedback to assistant coaches
  • Report scores to local media sources
  • Complete required professional development and trainings
  • Attend required PIAA and Lancaster Lebanon League meetings

Relevant experience required; salary based on previous experience. Must be available for practices and contests during the week and on weekends.    Along with the completed application, interested candidates should send a letter of interest and a resume detailing experience.

Applicants must possess the following clearances with results that have been obtained within the last 12 months:   Act 34 PA Criminal Background Clearance, Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 252 - PA Child Abuse Certificate.   The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical and TB test upon offer of employment.
