We Celebrate All Veterans

A veteran (from Latin vetus, meaning "old") is a person who has had long service or experience in a particular occupation or field.

Let us praise and honor this week those veterans of foreign wars that have served so nobly to keep us all safe and free. We owe them everything that we live in a land of the free. It's an unbelievable amount of gratitude and recognition that we thank these people for their service.

There is no honor or duty that is greater than serving to preserve the lives of your fellow man. They have saved and preserved our nation, culture and our lives. We are forever grateful.

With no disrespect, we also refer to our athletic team veterans for their leadership. They have talked the talk and walked the walk to get to the pinnacle of their seasons; the PIAA Championships.

Slice it any way you'd like, but getting here is only part of the journey and the last step may be the hardest. It comes with all sorts of ups and downs; crazy things; strange situations, but as our other veterans have so ably taught us; persevere and it will put you in a place where only those that survive can enjoy; the sweet smell of success; the brass ring; the champion!

 So as we salute these veterans, we harken back to the Hollies and we say he's not heavy he's my brother. So with respect...

The road is long with many a winding turns

That leads us to who knows where; Who knows where

But I'm strong; Strong enough to carry him

His welfare is of my concern;

No burden is he to bear;  We'll get there

For I know; He would not encumber me

If I'm laden at all; I'm laden with sadness

That everyone's heart; Isn't filled with the gladness

Of love for one another

 

It's a long, long road; From which there is no return

While we're on the way to there; Why not share

And the load; Doesn't weigh me down at all

He ain't heavy he's my brother!
