Life's Lessons

9/24/13

Here it is the 4th week of the fall season and lot has gone on.

Last week, we celebrated the 12th year anniversary of 9/11 and it's a day that all of us cannot get out of our memory. One of the biggest memories many of us have is how pristine the sky was that memorable morning before such terrible acts impacted our lives. The morning sky was drop dead beautiful.

In the Eastern part of the USA, we do not have many days that look like that and seeing that sky on how perfectly blue and pristine it was will always be a memory. It's very sad to think when you see such a gorgeous sky that such hateful acts are related to it. It's as if beauty pays its price. Very, very sad.

What lives on is the indomitable spirit. The attitude of whatever needs to be done, we'll do it. The never say die, American spirit. We survive. We will perservere. We will overcome.

These are the lessons we learn in athletics. Prepare, practice, give best efforts, compete, adjust, start again. Sounds like daily life to me.
