PIAA has made it a priority to significantly reduce the number of non-browser based documents (.PDF, .DOC, etc) on our webste. There are instances however, where information is best presented in document format.

Portable Document Format (PDF)

PDF, a standard developed by Adobe, Inc., has become the Lingua Franca of electronic document distribution. Among other features, it provides precise preservation of page layout, fonts and images. PDF documents are presented to viewers in their original design ready for viewing, printing or saving.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Download Adobe ReaderThe Adobe Reader is a free download and installs as a 'plug-in' to your web browser. Get the software here;
  2. After you have installed the Reader software, PDF documents (noted by the *.pdf file extension) will open inside your browser. Check your installation by opening this PDF document.
  3. If the test PDF document does not open, most likely you have encountered an installation error. Assistance and Help regarding Adobe Software is available on their website.
Common Problems Adobe PDF Solutions
PDF document fails to open, sometimes resulting in Adobe crash. Obtain and install the most current Adobe Reader Plug-In.
Recipients can't open files because they don't have the applications used to create the documents. Anyone, anywhere can open a PDF file. All you need is free Adobe Reader software.

 

Word Document (DOC)

Word Viewer 2003 lets you open Word 2003 documents and documents created with all previous versions of Microsoft Word for Windows® and Microsoft Word for Macintosh.

NOTE: If you have the Microsoft Word program alrady installed, you do not need to download this viewer software.

  1. Word Viewer 2003 is a free download. File download and installation instructions can be found here.
  2. After you have installed the software, Word documents (noted by the *.doc file extension) that are downloaded will open inside the viewer.

 

PowerPoint Document (PPT)

PowerPoint Viewer 2003 lets you view full-featured presentations created in PowerPoint 97 and later versions. This viewer also supports opening password-protected Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. You can view and print presentations, but you cannot edit them in the PowerPoint Viewer 2003.

If you have the Microsoft PowerPoint program alrady installed, you do not need to download this viewer software.

  2. After you have installed the software, PowerPoint documents (noted by the *.ppt file extension) that are downloaded will open inside the viewer.

 

Excel Document (XLS)

With Excel Viewer 2003, you can open, view, and print Excel workbooks, even if you don't have Excel installed. You can also copy data from Excel Viewer 2003 to another program. However, you cannot edit data, save a workbook, or create a new workbook. This download is a replacement for Excel Viewer 97 and all previous Excel Viewer versions.

If you have the Microsoft Excel program alrady installed, you do not need to download this viewer software.
