We’re back! After a brief respite, we have returned to sing the praises of what’s happening in the interscholastic arena. We hope to share some topical items on a timely basis.
So here we are at the start of another school year. Yahoo!
It reminds us of those old ballads of days gone by (1950), namely Tony Bennett singing Because of You….take a peak on www.youtube.com at the contemporary duet with k.d. lang. It’s good stuff.
Here are the lines from that ballad that are the love of sport, the love of the game, the love of being part of a team; the love of the interscholastic sport experience. These lines are germane to this year’s start of the season.Because of you, there’s song in my heart;Because of you, my romance had its start ;Because of you, the sun will shine; The moon and stars will say your mine;Forever and never to part;I only live for your love….It’s paradise to be near you like this;Because of you, my life is now worthwhile; And I can smile because of you.
This encompasses everything we do in athletics; it’s the love of the game, the participation, the efforts, the struggles, the achievements, the pressures. If it was easy, everyone would do it. But they don’t, because it takes time, commitment, sacrifice, the purposeful establishment of a goal and the working together as a team through ups and downs, to achieve it.
So as we start the season, we quote Pharrel Williams in Happy;Because I'm happy,Clap along if you feel like room without a roof;Because I’m happy,Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth;Because I’m happy,Clap along if you know what happiness is to you;Because I’m happyClap along if you feel that’ s what you want to do.
Best of luck. Regardless of the outcome of the game, love it because of the experience and the relationships involved in interscholastic sports participation and, as importantly, be happy!!
